The North West Company is one of the longest, continuing retail enterprises in the World, and we have the pleasure of partnering with them, to help our Northern clients and partners receive their computers.

The North West Company can trace it’s roots as far back as 1668, and have been in operation for over 200 years. Early in 1668, the Nonsuch sailed from England in search of fur, wintering at James Bay, at what is now the Northern store location of Waskaganish. Upon the ship’s return, heavily laden with furs, King Charles 2 granted a royal charter for Rupert’s Land (all land in the watershed flowing into Hudson Bay), forming the Hudson’s Bay Company (HBC) in 1670. Hats made from beaver felt were in high demand from the 1600s until the mid-1800s.

Today, having acquired 100% of North Star Air Ltd. in 2017, a Thunder-Bay based airline, North West provides cargo and passenger services within northwestern Ontario through their hubs in: Pickle Lake, Red Lake, Sioux Lookout and Moosonee in Ontario and to Thompson, Manitoba. The acquisition of North Star Air Ltd. was to help North West gain efficiencies in their logistics networking, allowing the company to provide faster, more consistent delivery of merchandise to their stores in northern Ontario, and Canada – to remote areas generally in accessible by all-weather roads.
