On Saturday, April 1st, Renewed Computer Technology was honoured to receive a PWA Friends of the Foundation award for Outstanding Community Support for the significant contribution of computer technology to the people living with HIV/AIDS community. People With AIDS (PWA) is a not-for-profit charitable foundation that has been supporting men, women, trans men, trans women, and children living with HIV since 1987. Their mission is to engage people living with HIV/AIDS in enhancing their health and well-being through practical and therapeutic support services and broader social change, and inspire them to live into their dreams and discoveries. RCT’s partnership with PWA began in the fall of 2021, and together, RCT and PWA have helped over 100 community members living with HIV/AIDS access computers.

“PWA is tremendously grateful for this partnership with RCT, an extremely meaningful one, especially for new-comers, and racialized community members. Many of whom, do not have any access to technology to connect with their family members in their respective countries. Also, for those who are getting involved in capacity building initiatives, the laptop is a meaningful tool in helping them to successfully complete these trainings so that they can acquire the requisite skills to enter the job market in Canada. PWA is very grateful for this collaboration and will ensure that it continues to be nurtured and maintained.”  -Somdatt Ramessar, Director of Program and Services (Acting)
