Solid Foundation for Future Innovators!

by Marie | Jul 16, 2024 | Uncategorized | 0 comments

Early Childhood Development Initiative (ECDI) is a Toronto-based non-profit that is dedicated to promoting optimal developmental and learning outcomes for Black children ages 0-12, particularly those from families who have recently immigrated from the continent of Africa. Their mission is to deliver culturally responsive programs and advocacy that support parents and children as they navigate Canadian social and education systems.
One of their flagship programs, Solid Foundations for Future Innovators (SFFI), provides STEM learning opportunities to children ages 6-12 through camps, virtual after-school sessions, family math workshops, and field trips to STEM centers across the Greater Toronto Area. In 2023, the SFFI program served over 400 families.
With our support, ECDI:
  • Loans laptops to Families: We loan the laptops to families in need for a school term, enabling children to participate in our after-school programs and enhancing their school performance.

  • Supports STEM Initiatives: The laptops are crucial for our coding and machine learning experiences during our in-person camps held in the summer and March break.
In addition, they been able to expand their technology loan library. As they continue to grow, they  hope to reach even more families and expand their programs.
