August 20 2015 – Peel board schools receive donation of 62 computers from Renewed Computer Technology
The Peel District School Board has received a donation of 62 computers from Renewed Computer Technology (RCT). Clark Boulevard and Sir Winston Churchill public schools will receive these computers at the beginning of the 2015-16 school year to help boost 21st century teaching and learning.
“Through our BYOD initiative, we always look for ways to give our students greater access to technology. Our students are living in a world where technology has the power to make a real difference and prepare them for a successful future,” says Brian Woodland, director of communications and community relations. “We’re grateful to RCT for their generous donation, their commitment to continuous learning and for empowering through information technologies.”
The Peel board and RCT have shared a successful partnership since 2014 through the RCTech Outreach program, which offers low-cost, quality, refurbished computers to low-income families. With this exclusive program in place at assigned schools, qualified applicants are able to purchase a desktop computer for a fee as low as $60 or a laptop for $150. Since the launch of this program, a total of 174 computers have been purchased by Peel families.
RCT will roll this program into more Peel schools in 2015-16 to help benefit more families in need. “We understand the increased pressure of not only learners to access the critical tools they need, but that of Ontario school boards to provide equitable access to enable their success, ”says Shauna McCaffrey, executive director of RCT.

The Peel board is the largest employer in Peel operating 242 schools in Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga. It serves more than 153,000 students from kindergarten to grade 12.
