Jennifer Linklater who is a Georgian College Indigenous Resource contact, we understood the role of M’Wikwedong in the community and through her we found the right place for our Indigenous community to receive this TD Bank support directly.

“M’Wikwedong has several programs that cover a variety of ages, including prenatal care, infants, children, pre-teens, and elders. Our programs are tailored especially for Urban Aboriginals.”

Jennfier is also the Apatisiwin Coordinator (Training and Employment) for M’Wikwedong Indigenous Friendship Centre in Owen Sound. We quickly realized that these laptops could be utilized by people both coming into the Centre or students working in the Indigenous Education Resource Room and that it would be a huge benefit.

“Apatisiwin offers employment and training interventions and other activities designed to support and promote education and employment outcomes for urban Indigenous people residing in Ontario.

As part of the M’wikwedong Indigenous Friendship Centre, the Apatisiwin program offers employment & training interventions to support and promote education and employment outcomes for urban Indigenous people residing in Ontario.

The program also offers non-funded intervention services such as job bank, employment counselling, referrals and use of resources and pre-employment training.

“The first user group is going to be our Life Long Care clients who are going to be learning about the laptops, their features and how to use them. Georgian College is providing the instruction to our Life Long Care clients. This program is one of the many ways the laptops will be used by the M’Wikwedong community. Miigwetch! ”
