June 5, 2013 – A new art and technology centre for youth has opened in Malvern thanks to partnership between the City of Toronto, Toronto Public Library and East Metro Youth Services (as operator of the ProTech Media Centre – funded by Microsoft and Renewed Computer Technology).
“Today is a great day for our young people,” said JoAnne Doyle, Senior Vice President, Community Impact, United Way Toronto. “This valuable new community space will give them a place to meet, discover, create and build important connections with one another. The SPOT is a strong example of what today’s young leaders can accomplish when supported by adults, allies and institutional partners.”
RCT supports ProTech Media Centres that are located in priority neighbourhoods throughout Toronto. The centres focus on digital learning from all perspectives. What makes these centres unique is the vision and programming is driven by youth led committees and supported by local community organizations.
