I have been working as a Marketing and Sales Assistant at RCT for the past three months, supporting outreach efforts across the GTA and Southwestern Ontario. Since graduating from York University with a Bachelor of Commerce, I have been focused on building a career in marketing and gaining hands-on experience in the field.
Before joining RCT, I worked as a Post Office Clerk at Canada Post and served as Vice President of Events for the Filipino Student Association at York University, where I gained experience in planning and coordinating initiatives. This combination of experiences has helped me transition into an office-based marketing role and equipped me with transferable skills in communication, organization, and outreach.
In my current role, I identify potential partners in our target regions, manage email marketing campaigns, schedule and coordinate meetings, and make follow-up cold calls. I work closely with and learn from my Community Engagement Lead, whose mentorship has been instrumental in guiding me as I develop professionally.
RCT has provided me with the opportunity to apply my academic knowledge to real-world marketing initiatives. This role has helped me grow my technical skills, including Microsoft Office proficiency, and deepen my understanding of the non-profit sector.
What I value most about RCT is its mission to bridge the digital divide and its commitment to sustainability. Seeing firsthand the positive impact technology can have on individuals and communities has been incredibly rewarding, and I am proud to contribute to an organization that aligns with my own values.
I am grateful to be part of such a supportive team and excited to continue growing my skills and advancing my career in marketing.
